Warriors beaten

30 Jun, 2009 12:00 AM
MELTON Rugby Club missed out on an opportunity to grab vital points and make up ground on the top four teams after the Warriors went down to Maroondah 19-24 on Saturday.

The Warriors were fresh from a big win over Melbourne University in round eight, and beating fellow mid-table dwellers Marrondah would have had it equal fourth in the second division of Victorian club rugby.

But the Misfits were too strong in close-fought encounter.

The competition's top two teams Geelong and Endeavour Hills A have skipped out to an almost unassailable lead, so Melton will need to craft a few wins in the coming rounds.

Melton face Endeavour Hills A on Saturday and the last time the two met the Warriors lost 0-28.

Kick-off is at 3pm at Monash University.
