RUGBY
MELTON Warriors are at risk of a form slump bringing their season to a premature end after a third straight one-sided defeat, this time 38-7 to Footscray at the weekend.
The Victorian Rugby Union second division Bgrade side still finished third on the ladder in spite of the loss but will not receive home ground advantage for its final against Wyndham City this weekend.
Wyndham City fields a second division Agrade team and had to forfeit Bgrade at the weekend due to a player shortage, putting a question mark over this weekend's final altogether.
Melton was informed by the VRU on Friday it would not be hosting Wyndham City at MacPherson Park this Saturday, instead playing at Wyndham City's ground.
But regardless of the venue, the Warriors' form is not one of a contender after a performance short on commitment in the eyes of assistant coach Charles Stenberg.
"The preparation was poor, the team didn't turn up to play. I give full credit to the guys that are there training every week and that's the core of the team, but there are players that aren't committing enough.
"There's so much talent in the team. If they get out there and put it on the park we're every chance. But right now we need the right mind-set."
