Centrals, Romsey play-off

MELTON Centrals and Romsey will play off for a spot in the preliminary final this weekend when the near-inseparable top pair in Riddell District Netball League meet at Romsey Park.

Centrals' 46-21 win against Riddell at the weekend was enough to hold top spot from Romsey, itself a 48-37 winner against Wallan, by a slim margin.

Finishing with 16 wins, a draw (against each other) and a loss each, Centrals edged the minor premiership 187.36per cent to Romsey 186.94per cent. Romsey became the first and only team of the home-and-away season to crack 1000 goals for the season in its win against Wallan, finishing with 1002.

In other results, Macedon defeated Broadford 66-29, Lancefield held onto fourth spot despite losing 46-54 to Diggers Rest, Sunbury Kangaroos defeated Rockbank 53-25 and Kilmore 43 defeated Woodend-Hesket 38.

The final ladder is: Melton Centrals 66 (187.36), Romsey 66 (186.94), Macedon 60, Lancefield 44 (130), Riddell 44 (113), Wallan 40 (123), Diggers Rest 40 (100), Sunbury Kangaroos 32, Kilmore 20, Woodend-Hesket 12, Broadford 8, Rockbank 0
