ROCKBANK owner-breeder-trainer George Aquiliner combined with Hillside reinsman Darren Pace to land the Little Buddha Restaurant Kilmore Pacers Handicap for C0 class over 2150 metres at Kilmore last Tuesday with 4Y0 gelding Pacifics Boy.
Beginning brilliantly from barrier two on the second line, Pacifics Boy raced to the front running into the first turn after polemarker Sun Samura (a trotter) galloped.
Pacifics Boy never looked like being beaten and kicked away on the final bend with the race well in his keeping to score from Im Flash With Cash along the sprint lane off his back in a rate of 2-06.8, with Luce Sound third after being four back at the markers.
It was Pacifics Boy's third success in 27 outings.
■Astute Mt Cottrell trainer Bill Galea was victorious at Warragul on August 23 with D M Dilinger/Little Glee gelding Bob Dilinger in the Radford Butchers 3-Y-0 Pace over 1785 metres.
Driven by Damian Wilson, who does the bulk of the stable handling, Bob Dilinger - bred and raced by Gisborne's Keith Barnett - settled three back in the moving line from gate two on the second line, creeping forward three wide solo in the final circuit.
Finishing his race off well in just his second appearance at the races, Bob Dilinger proved too strong over the concluding stages for Missouri Lad along the sprint lane off the back of the pacemaker Alta Onassis in a mile rate of 2-03.7.
■Graeme Lang and Kimberlie Hobby were successful at Kilmore with Falcon Seelster/Just The Ticket 5Y0 gelding Tickle The Falcon in the Ashleigh's Kids Rides Pace for C1 class over 2180 metres.
Taking a concession, Tickle The Falcon settled mid-field in the moving line from gate two on the second row and when taken wide approaching the home turn, ran on stylishly on straightening to register a runaway victory over the favourite Hebackinblack, which moved from last to face the breeze at the bell. Steady Arden (one/two at bell) was third in a rate of 2-02.7 in the wet conditions.
■Toolern Vale horseman John Justice received a welcome change of luck with a stable double at Bendigo on Wednesday. Major Mac (Elsu/Penultimate) led throughout from gate three in the $6000 Loddon Valley Stud (Two Year Old Colts & Geldings) Classic over 2150 metres in 2-04.6, while Grinfromeartoear/Gossamer Girl gelding Four Grinners ($32.00) came from last with a three wide double trail in the last lap before switching to the sprint lane to blowse Spiral Jet, which faced the breeze from the bell in the Eaglehawk Bakery Caffe 3-Y-0 Vicbred Pace. Callnineoneone was third after racing very wide in the final circuit.
The mile rate: 2-00.2.
