LANCEFIELD ruckman Tom Waters last night claimed the Riddell District Football League's Bowen Medal for the second time in three seasons with a one-vote win in the best-and-fairest count.
Prolific Riddell goalscorer Christine Harris was the netball best and fairest, taking out the Janine Ryan Medal.
Waters' 29 votes pipped Kilmore's Matt Robertson by one on 28, giving the 24-year-old the distinction of being a two-time winner of the award.
Waters was named in Lancefield's best 13 times in his 18home-and-away games, a tally bettered only by Macedon's James Wright. The interleague ruckman becomes the first Tiger to win the medal twice, having ended a 49-year wait for a Lancefield Bowen medallist with his victory in 2008.
Ray Russell (1952) and brothers Keith (1958) and Bernie Shannon (1959) are the Tigers' only other Bowen medallists.
Harris claimed the Ryan medal with 28 votes, winning from Wallan's Kirrilly Gilchrist.
Harris was prolific under the goal ring for Riddell in the home-and-away season, shooting 657 goals before a haul of 49 in the Bombers' win against Lancefield in the elimination final at the weekend.
