DARLEY has recaptured form at the right time for Ballarat Football League finals and will need to be on song from the opening bounce when it takes on powerhouse Redan this weekend.
The Devils' 17.12 (114) to 8.11 (59) win against Melton South at the weekend earned them fifth spot and an elimination final against Redan to be played at Eastern Oval on Sunday.
Darley overcame a slow start with six second-quarter goals to kick away from Melton South at the weekend off the back of four majors to Jake Edwards and three to Jye Cousins.
Brad Inglis, defender Tate Stone and Edwards were the Devils' best, while the Panthers' Paul McNamara and Adam Toll were best in the losing cause.
Although the Devils got through with no injuries, there will be one case before the Ballarat league tribunal with Gavin Miller reported for misconduct.
Darley coach Gary Learmonth said he left the ground thinking it would be Ballarat in the third-v-sixth final for his team this weekend, but news of other results means the reigning premier will be his next opposition.
"Size-wise I think we match up on their talls, if anything we probably have an advantage there.
"But this game is about the midfield. That's the key. They've got an interleague midfield and we've got to match them in the contest and give our forwards every chance.
"No one will give us much of a chance so we've got to take some risks."
