BFNL: Bacchus Marsh Cobras face nemesis in second finals bid

BACCHUS Marsh was unable to win through to the Ballarat Football Netball League grand final at the weekend as East Point won by 19 goals.

The Cobras will now need to use their second chance in this weekend's preliminary final against Lake Wendouree after going down 63-44 at Clarke Oval on Saturday.

Bacchus Marsh will take on Lake Wendouree at Darley Park, with the match starting at 1.15pm on Saturday. Lake Wendouree had the better of its only meeting so far with Bacchus Marsh during the season, winning 59-42 in round nine.

In football, Sunbury made a straight-sets exit from finals after an eight-point defeat to Redan at Clarke Oval.

Sunbury led in the final term, but Redan booted the last two goals of the game to win 9.11 (65) to 8.9 (57). Redan advances to a preliminary final showdown with Ballarat, which lost to Lake Wendouree in the second semi-final, 8.7 (55) to 2.12 (24).

In junior grades, Bacchus Marsh powered into the under-16.5 grand final by beating North Ballarat by 31 points in Sunday's preliminary final.

The Cobras led at every change on the way to the 11.8 (74) to 6.7 (43) win, setting up a grand final showdown with East Ballarat this Sunday.

Corey Cullen booted three goals for Bacchus Marsh at the weekend.

Also on Sunday, the Ballarat Football Netball League best-and-fairest night will decide the winner of the Henderson Medal.

Redan's Jarrod Edwards has won the medal consecutively for the past four years.
