CLUBS in the Western Suburbs United Churches Cricket Association were left waiting for a Labour Day dry-out yesterday to advance to their respective finals across all divisions.
The synthetic-wicket competition was not able to survive Saturday's deluge, with matches either failing to start or players leaving the field in the early stages.
Results of the weekend action were determined after the Express Telegraph went to print.
In matches that did take the field on Saturday, Melton reached 1-43 off 19 overs against Burnside Springs in B-grade, while Melton Centrals had Williamstown Congs 4-57 off 21.2 overs in D-grade.
The A-grade intra-club derby between Melton South's two teams had just three overs of play on Saturday.
Melton South president Michael Scilini was one of the people putting in the work on Saturday to protect the club's rooms from flooding.
"There was a bit of seepage but we put an old set of cricket bats on the inside of the door and sandbagged the front," Scilini said.
"There was no extensive damage; we're fortunate we didn't end up with more damage."
