MELTON South Primary School (old boys) cricketer Andrew Axford continues to make mountains of runs in the Western Suburbs United Churches Cricket Association.
Having averaged more than 100 last season, the B grade captain is averaging a remarkable 482 in B grade, having made scores of 179 and 218, both not out.
"The first big score was the highest of my career and the 200 has beaten that," Axford said.
"I have been close to getting the 200 before and always fell short. I've made 20 centuries since the club started playing seniors about 10 years ago, so it's been a long time coming.
"I don't get to train as much as the others, as I do shift work. I guess my experience is helping me, and a bit of luck comes into it."
Despite continuing to hit runs and help his side to another finals series, Axford has no plans to return to the seniors.
"I'm on the way down now ... it's time to let the younger players get some experience in the seniors. Last year I captained the C grade side to the premiership, so we got promoted to the B grade, which I'm focusing on.
"We're now sitting in the top four and play Melton Central, who will be tough in the final round."
