DARLEY'S bowlers made a devastating start to the new year and set up a six-wicket win against North Ballarat in Ballarat Cricket Association first grade at the weekend.
Just two North Ballarat bats made it to double figures as the visitors to Darley Park were rolled for 86 after being sent in.
The emphatic result has lifted Darley to fifth on the first grade table with 21 points, just three behind fourth-placed Mt Clear.
If not for conceding 22 wides and 29 total sundries, Darley would have had even less to chase after decimating the North Ballarat top order.
Bradley Barnes (3-16), Rohan Parag (3-15) and Brian Wheelahan (3-18) shared the honours.
North Ballarat reached 1-41, mainly sundries, only to lose 6-17 to be 7-58. Darley lost two wickets on 18 and top-scorer Matt Cape (25) to be 4-58, but Wheelahan (18) and Ben Hall (seven) ensured there would be no further batting collapse.
North Ballarat was almost as generous with sundries, donating 19 wides.
Darley heads to Napoleons/Sebastopol (second, 33 points) this weekend for a one-dayer.
