WHAT DO YOU THINK? POST A COMMENT BELOW.MT WALLACE resident Janene Skidmore says her life will be a "living hell" if wind farm proposals are approved.
"I'm a severe migraine sufferer and I can't put up with low-frequency noise and flashing lights. I also have vertigo and when I get it I'm on the bathroom floor crying in pain."
But the general manager of Pacific Hydro - which has submitted a proposal to Moorabool Council for a 14-turbine farm at Yaloak South - has dismissed the supposed health effects of living near wind farms.
Lane Crockett said there was no credible scientific or medical evidence anywhere in the world to suggest any risk.
"There is no evidence to suggest that wind farms, and in particular infrasound from wind farms, makes you sick."
Mr Crockett said the state Health Department and the Chief Health Officer had reviewed international reports on infrasound and case studies of wind farm noise emissions.
They found there was "insignificant infrasound generated from modern wind turbines" and that "levels of low-frequency sound emitted from modern wind turbines are not at a level that would lead to direct health effects".
As reported in the Express Telegraph last week, a new application for a 110-turbine wind farm five kilometres south of Ballan has been lodged with the State Government by WestWind Energy.
It coincides with Pacific Hydro's Yaloak South application and three turbines proposed for Pykes Hill by Future Energy.
