AN eight-house development rejected by Melton Council has been given planning approval by the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal.
Metropol Planning Solutions was last month granted permission to build three double-storey and five single-storey houses at 15 Crestmont Drive in Melton South.
In refusing to issue a permit, the council said the design of the houses showed little regard to the character of the neighbourhood and was an overdevelopment of the site.
It also said the construction had the potential to exacerbate traffic safety.
In its successful appeal to VCAT, Metropol maintained the designs had taken the constraints of the site into consideration.
