Speedster nabbed after police chase

POLICE have arrested a 21-year-old man following a pursuit at Diggers Rest early this morning.

Sunbury police noticed the white Holden Commodore travelling north on Riddles Road about 3am.

After trying to intercept the car on Riddles Road, the car accelerated and took off.

The police pursued the Commodore along the Calder Freeway and continued along the Old Calder Freeway, with the car allegedly reaching speeds of up to 120kmh.

Sunbury police caught up with the driver of the Commodore and his passenger about 10 minutes later on the Old Calder Freeway where the driver was arrested.

The Sunbury driver is currently assisting police with their inquiries, and faces charges including evading police, unlicensed driving, conduct endangering life and other traffic related offences.
