Sparring partners Revell in attention

21 Feb, 2012 12:00 AM
AMANDA Revell was so impressed by how much daughters Rochelle, 12, and Teneal, 9 (pictured), were enjoying karate that she's taken up the martial art herself.

The trio now train together at Melton's Go-Kan-Ryu Karate and say they enjoy the discipline, confidence and self-control fostered by the ancient practice.

Rochelle and Teneal, both yellow belt with orange tip holders, say it is fun having their mum in class.

"I like being able to defend myself and practising what I've learnt in class," Teneal says.

Rochelle enjoys the challenges that karate presents.

"My favourite thing is doing the karta. I like the open-hand techniques, kicking and blocking as well."

Amanda says the best part for her is how empowering the martial art is.
