16 Mar, 2010 01:34 PM
MELTON swimmers Jackson Eekelschot and Tristan Barbour have swum their way into the record books.

Jackson, 10, and Tristan, 11, broke long-standing records at the annual Melton Primary School swimming sports at Melton Waves on March 4.

Jackson swam 41.45 seconds in the 50-metre backstroke and broke a record set by one of Melton's best swimmers in recent history, Ben Sutherland, whose record was 43.04 seconds.

Jackson also won the 10-year-old boys championship.

Fellow Wedge Park pupil Tristan set a new 50-metre butterfly record with a time of 39.89.

Jackson and Tristan represented Wedge Park Primary on the day and, along with other winners, will represent Melton at Oak Park tomorrow for the Whitten region

swimming championships.

Top swimmers from this event will be selected for the Victorian state championships to be held on April 27 at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre in Albert Park.
