MOORABOOL Council's new chief executive officer says he will focus on water issues, sustainable growth and bushfire preparation when he assumes the role on July 26.
Appointed to the position last week, Rob Croxford was previously the acting chief executive of Murrindindi Council and earlier the general manager of operations and deputy chief executive officer.
He has more than 30 years' experience in local government and a background in financial management, community engagement, government advocacy, staff development and continuous improvement in service delivery.
Moorabool mayor Pat Toohey said Mr Croxford's experience, particularly his involvement in Murrindindi's bushfire recovery effort, would be a significant advantage for Moorabool.
"Rob has recently completed a nine-month term as acting CEO of the Murrindindi Shire where he led a team that has been immersed in the rebuilding and recovery of communities and infrastructure post the February 2009 fires," Cr Toohey
said.
Mr Croxford has been appointed on a five-year contract.
"I am excited at the prospect of working with the team at Moorabool and forming strong relationships with the council, staff, community and other levels of government," Mr Croxford said.
