MOORABOOL welcomed 17 new citizens at its Australia Day citizenship ceremony in Ballan.
Mayor Pat Griffin, Australia Day ambassador Ann Peacock, Melton MP Don Nardella and Ballarat MP Catherine King joined a large audience at the event.
Mrs King spoke about the importance of diversity, tolerance and inclusion in the country.
"Cultural diversity has become a central and most important feature of our national identity. It's one of those elements that makes us special."
