IT seems good manners and a positive attitude never go out of fashion.
Melton resident Albert Peck has been cheerfully going about his work as a doorman at Kmart in Melton's
Woodgrove shopping centre for the past six years.
Mr Peck's enthusiasm for his job has not gone unnoticed: he now has a following on social networking website Facebook.
The page is called "Albert is the greatest door greeter in history" and it now has more than 2700 members, with numerous comments on the site complimenting Mr Peck for his infectious spirit and warm welcome.
"It's not every day you are greeted by such a happy man," the page states.
Mr Peck, who admits to "pushing 70", says he's "humbled" by the recognition.
His sons had shown him the Facebook page. "I've just been so flattered, but honestly I'm so humbled."
Mr Peck said he had held management jobs, but his current role as the "face" of the store was the best job he'd ever had.
He said his life motto was simple: treat others as you would want to be treated.
"I just love people and I love my job. If you see someone who's down, its important to get down on one knee and say, 'Come on, let's see if we can't get you back up'."
