Greening up at St Patrick's primary

07 Feb, 2012 12:00 AM
PUPILS at St Patrick's Primary School in Gordon are returning to a 'greener' school this year.

Sian (grade 6), Lucas (grade 3), Anais (grade 5) and Eden (grade 1) went back to school on Friday and, with their principal Michael Kennedy, inspected a building that will receive solar panels.

The school has received $50,000 from the federal government to install renewable energy systems and Mr Kennedy says the pupils are excited at the prospect of learning how to conserve water and energy.

Ballarat MP Catherine King said that to create a cleaner Australia, it was important for schools to reduce carbon emissions, save water and conserve and generate electricity.
