STEPHEN Gibbons and Linzy Marsden can't wait for the curtain to rise tonight on what they say is one of the most glitzy shows put on at Bacchus Marsh College.
Featuring a cast of 100, Songs of the Century has been produced by students and teachers.
Directed by drama teacher Christopher Doughty, the musical tells the story of Kid, a homeless child, who busks for money. Played by year 7 student Linzy, Kid's world changes when she is picked up by a unscrupulous music company head honcho and turned into a star overnight.
Linzy, 13, said she really enjoyed the dancing and singing in the show.
"I would love for a music company to make me famous like Kid."
Stephen, 17, said they had been rehearsing for five months and added: "There is a mix of excitement, joy and nervousness."
The show will also be staged tomorrow and Thursday. Tickets: students $5, adults $8. Details: 5367 2955.
