Boy held in toilet

09 Mar, 2010 09:18 AM
AN intellectually disabled man who cornered a boy in a public toilet in Bacchus Marsh was sentenced last week to an 18-month community-based order.

Ballarat Magistrates Court had been told that Thomas Quirk, 52, of Navigators, followed the nine-year-old boy into a cubicle at the Gell Street toilets and tried to undo his shorts and kiss him.

The boy cried and pleaded to be let go and Quirk left the cubicle.

He was charged with false imprisonment and committing an indecent act with a child under 16.

Magistrate Kay Robertson told Quirk: "You now know that you must not kiss little boys, you must not touch little boys."

Quirk was placed on the Sex Offenders Register.
