THIS is the design for the new Community Learning Centre to be built in Main Street, Bacchus Marsh.

Moorabool Shire Council last year found the current library to be inadequate and resolved to fund the construction of a new multi-purpose library.

The new learning centre will house the library, visitor information centre, historical society and council customer service centre.

Bacchus Marsh library manager Dale Johnson said he was happy with the centre's design.

"I like it and hope the public like it, too, but everyone will have a different opinion," Mr Johnson said.

"Our main input will be with the design of the inside of the library."

Cr Pat Griffin endorsed the design at last week's meeting, adding the internal design was "magnificent".

"It is the most significant building the shire has done since amalgamation.

"It's a great step forward, and it will cause a lot of discussion in the community."

Construction on the centre is expected to begin in July and be completed by August next year.

More than $4million has been budgeted for the major project.
