MELTON'S Farhana Ahmed is among the many local mothers who will see their children off to school for the first time this week.
Mrs Ahmed's son Abyaz, 5, starts at Coburn Primary School on Thursday.
"He's very excited and I'm very sad," she said.
While she will miss having him at home, she says she's happy to see Abyaz so excited to start.
"He's been wearing his uniform, getting ready."
Abyaz says he'll miss his mum but then quickly points out how many new friends he will make. "I'll like it."
